Executive Governor of Katsina State
Dikko Umaru Radda (born 10 September 1969) is a Nigerian economist and politician who has served as Governor of Katsina State since 29 May 2023. He attended Radda Primary School and Zaria Teachers' College, obtained an NCE from the College of Education Kafanchan, a B.Tech in agricultural economics and extension from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and an MSc in agricultural extension and rural sociology from Ahmadu Bello University.
Radda was chairman of Charanchi Local Government from 2003 to 2008 and was among those involved in establishing the All Progressives Congress, serving as its national welfare secretary. He was chief of staff to Governor Aminu Bello Masari after 2015 and later director-general of SMEDAN, the federal agency for small and medium enterprises.
He won the 2023 Katsina governorship election as the APC candidate and took office on 29 May 2023 with Faruk Lawal Jobe as deputy governor. Insecurity caused by armed banditry has been a central concern of his administration, which created the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to work alongside federal security agencies, while also investing in agricultural mechanisation, teacher recruitment and urban renewal.
Radda has received national recognition including the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) and was named Leadership newspaper's Governor of the Year for 2023.
Dikko Umaru Radda began his public career in local government, serving as chairman of Charanchi Local Government Area from 2003 to 2008. He was involved in the formation of the All Progressives Congress and served as its National Welfare Secretary (2014-2015). After the 2015 elections he became Chief of Staff to Katsina governor Aminu Bello Masari, and was later appointed Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). In 2016 he founded the Gwagware Foundation, which supports rural communities.
